Just a few things to let you know about. We take great pride in the health and care of our birds, which is why we only ship out healthy birds. We check each bird before they are prepared to leave for their trip. We want them to arrive at their new homes safely, which is why we only ship out Monday to Wednesday and monitor the weather in both locations, as it takes 24-48 hours from leaving our local USPS office to arrive to yours. Your local USPS office will let you know when they have arrived so that you can go pick it up- we find this to be less stressful for them. When he/she arrives, make sure there is plenty of water available so they can replenish after their trip. If for some reason your new feathered friend does not arrive safely, we need to know within the first 48 hours after arrival. If something does happen, we will need pictures of the sick or deceased. After 48 hours we are not responsible if anything happens to your new feathered friend since they are no longer in our care. This is why it is important to inform us of any issues as quickly as possible. Please email us at nybssales@nybird.com or call 1-800-772-2473 with these concerns.

** Please note that certain breed colors will vary from photos**

Gender is not guaranteed by some species

** If you are requesting a picture of your bird prior to shipping, those requests will be sent out Friday via email. The breeding diet should be introduced about 1 month prior to anticipated breeding. Green Singing Finches are monogamous with a strong pair bond, though some breeders have had success breeding the birds as trios (2 hens with 1 cock). Only house one pair (or trio) per enclosure; colony breeding multiple pairs does not tend to be successful, and housing more than 1 pair together requires a very spacious and well-planted enclosure. Ideally, pairs should not be kept within earshot of each other to maximize productivity. Although an open cup nest is typical, some green singers will also utilize a nest box. Additional green food, in the form of grass and other plant sprouts, as well as insects, is required when the pair are raising young. The parents tend to leave the nest at even slight disturbances. When a male is courting a female, he bobs about ruffling his feathers to show off his colors. He expands his chest and fluffs out his forehead feathers. After mating, a female lays a clutch of about 4–8 eggs. Both parents help brood the eggs during the daytime, and the female stays on the eggs at night. When the eggs hatch, both parents help care for the young. Gouldian finches leave the nest at between 19 and 23 days and are independent at 40 days old. Lady Gouldians should be at least a year old before they are bred. Lady Gouldian Finches prefer to nest in a small, covered space, like a wooden nest box or covered basket. The box is preferred because the finch can’t accidentally catch a toe in the woven straw, and the box is also easier to access. They usually breed in the early part of the dry season, when there is plenty of food around. The male courtship dance is a fascinating spectacle. Goulds should be at least a year old before they are bred. They prefer to nest in a small, covered space, like a wooden nest box or covered basket. The box is preferred because the finch can’t accidentally catch a toe in the woven straw, and the box is also easier to access. Gouldians don’t build great nests, so put some material in the nest to get the parents started.

Diet: Gouldian Finch Seed, Mineral Grit, Cuttlefish Bone, Dried Egg Food, Herb Salad, Millet Sprays. Liquid iodine is also very important for the lady gouldian diet.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2315/0707/products/lady-gouldian-finch-orange-head-yellow-back-228288.jpg?v=1679640471
blue-faced-parrotfinch
Parrot Finch Blue Faced

Description: The Blue-faced Parrotfinch (Erythrura trichrome or Amblynura trichrome) is not only a beautiful bird but active, social, and generally peaceable. The Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus), also known as common pet parakeet, shell parakeet, and informally nicknamed the Budgie, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot. Budgerigars are the only species in the Australian genus Melopsittacus and are found wild throughout the drier parts of Australia where the species has survived harsh inland conditions for the last five million years. Budgies are naturally green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings, but have been bred in captivity with coloring in blues, whites, yellows, greys, and even with small crests. Budgies are popular pets around the world due to their small size, low cost, and ability to mimic human speech. The origin of the budgerigar's name is unclear. The species was first recorded in 1805, and today is the third most popular pet in the world, after the domesticated dog and cat. The budgerigar is closely related to the lories and the fig parrots. They are one of the parakeet species, a non-taxonomical term that refers to any of a number of small parrots with long, flat, and tapered tails.

Coloring: Coloring can vary from images posted, as they can range from a very soft color to more vivid coloring.

Size: 5"-6"

Life Span: 10-15 Years

Temperament: Budgies are very easy to tame if acquired at a young age. Not likely confused, but compare with female Red-and-black Grosbeak, which has entirely black head.

Description: Diamond Firetail Finches (Stagonopleura guttata) originate from Australia and bond strongly with mated pairs and often remain together for life. Beyond the mating season, these finches form loose groups of up to 30 birds. The females tend to be less brightly colored. Lady Gouldians for sale are small, but they make great aviary birds and appreciate a large, planted garden setting. They usually breed in the early part of the dry season, when there is plenty of food around. The male courtship dance is a fascinating spectacle.

Diet: Gouldian Finch Seed,. Liquid iodine is also very important for the lady Gouldian diet.

The Java sparrow is about 15 to 17 cm (5.9 to 6.7 in) in length from the beak to its tip of tail feathers. They were brought over by Spanish sailors to Europe. This bird became expensive and fashionable to breeding in courts of Spanish and English kings. Monks started breeding them and only sold the males (which sing). This kept the birds in short supply and drove the price up. Eventually Italians obtained hens and were able to breed the birds themselves. This made them very popular and resulted in many breeds arising and the birds being bred all over Europe. The same occurred in England. First the birds were only owned by the rich but eventually the local citizens started to breed them and, again, they became very popular. Many breeds arose through selective breeding, and they are still very popular today for their voices. Typically, the domestic canary is kept as a popular cage and aviary bird. Given proper housing and care, a canary's lifespan ranges from 10 to 15 years

Temperament: Canaries are very social with good personalities. They usually breed in the early part of the dry season, when there is plenty of food around. The male courtship dance is a fascinating spectacle. In Australia, it is predominantly called the Gouldian finch. It is a member of the weaver-finch family Estrildidae, which is sometimes considered a subfamily of Passeridae. Both sexes are brightly colored with black, green, yellow, and red markings. The females tend to be less brightly colored. Lady Gouldians for sale are small, but they make great aviary birds and appreciate a large, planted garden setting. Green-back Gouldians are known as "normals".

Size/Weight: 5.5" / 16 - 17 g

Lifespan: The Lady Gouldian Finch can live up to 10 years with proper care.

Temperament: Lady Gouldians are pleasant “watching only” birds as they don’t like to be held, and can even panic and die when handled. They usually breed in the early part of the dry season, when there is plenty of food around. The male courtship dance is a fascinating spectacle. Lady Gouldians don’t build great nests, so put some material in the nest to get the parents started.

Diet: Gouldian Finch Seed, Australian Blend Goldenfeast, Mineral Grit, Cuttlefish Bone, Dried Egg Food, Herb Salad, Millet Sprays. Liquid iodine is also very important for the lady Gouldian diet.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2315/0707/products/lady-gouldian-finch-dilute-green-back-357304.jpg?v=1693061023
